FORALLVENT - Forum for Allergy Prevention
The FORALLVENT project was active from 1 September 2006 to 28 February 2009. Currently, results are being collected and published. Detailed information will be available at the FORALLVENT partners.
About FORALLVENT
FORALLVENT had been set up to create a platform for the development of innovative strategies and therapeutic approaches in the area of allergies. One of its key goals was to bridge the gap between the various strands of research on allergic diseases and the practical application of their results.
The project's purpose was to collect and synthesise knowledge from the fields of allergy and auto-immune research, including the experience gained in various experimental and epidemiological studies in Europe. Moreover, foundations were laid for future research into one of the most challenging epidemics of the 20th century and its probable impact on the 21st century.
The FORALLVENT Brochure
Part of the 6th Framework Programme
FORALLVENT's goal was to support and stimulate international co-operation in Europe within the 6th Framework Programme of EU Research, in the priority theme 5 of Food Quality and Safety, specifically addressing the issue of allergies.
The aim was to establish a forum of experts from a number of different disciplines and with experience from various previous experimental and epidemiological studies. This forum was to review and assemble existing knowledge about allergy protection. Further goals were to identify the gaps between science and the clinical application, and to eventually conceptualize novel avenues for the development of allergy preventive strategies to combat the allergy epidemic of the 20th century.
Specific Support Action
FORALLVENT was a so-called Specific Support Action (SSA) within the 6th Framework Programme.
