Objectives
The overall aim of the FORALLVENT project is to help close the gap between the scientific research on allergies and the practical application of its results. Practical applications are required in the areas of prevention, clinical treatment and in the design of specialized foods. FORALLVENT also aims to lay the foundations for future research into the most promising avenues for the development of allergy-prevention strategies. Thus, the project will help 21st century research to combat the allergy epidemic of the 20th century.
These aims will be achieved by collating and disseminating (via a communications platform and forums) the widely dispersed knowledge and experience in the field of allergic diseases. A significant amount of research has been conducted in Europe in this area, particularly under the auspices of the 5th and 6th European Commission framework programmes. A highly useful research tool will be provided in the form of an existing birth cohort study sample. This will eventually allow evaluations to be made of the potential of allergy protection substances in vivo. Last but not least, the FORALLVENT project will also serve as preparation for structuring the 7th European Commission framework programme.
