Professor Jean-Charles Dalphin (MD, PhD) was born in Besançon in 1956. He is pulmonologist, allergologist and has a degree in Epidemiology. He is the head of the Departments of Chest Diseases and of Occupational Medicine in the University Hospital in Besançon, University of Franche-Comté, France (UFC). He is member of several international respiratory societies. In France, he directs the national occupational and environmental pulmonary medicine working group (PAPPE) and the national register for occupational asthma (ONAP).
In the "Chrono-Environment" research team of the University of Franche-Comté,  besides clinical research activities, he works on epidemiology and prevention of respiratory diseases in farmers. In cooperation with the national health insurance for farmers,  Dr Dalphin is following several cohorts of farmers aiming principally to study etiological factors of pulmonary involvement related to dairy activities. He also works on environmental exposure in dairy farmers with a particular interest on factors associated with the proliferation of microorganisms. As an investigator of the European PASTURE/FORALLVENT/EFRAIM studies, he has an experience in large multidisciplinary clinical and epidemiological research projects.
